There I was, about to give a speech at libre software world conference. Everything had been going perfectly smooth, like if it was part of the same great malefic plan, where all my files where going to be temporary lost.
I had my rst presentation converted to html in my pendrive, and I arrived just in time (wich is, a few minutes after the speech’ starting time, of course). But, as usual in this kind of scenarios, fatality came over me… My pendrive was corrupt!
It’s not that I needed it to give the speech about half a year work, but It took me several hours to get that ready, and as good as it was, I wanted to show it off to the whole world.
In that moment, I promised myself over my hurt pride that I wouldn’t let that happen to anyone ever again.
Thankfully, this story ended well for my files, I could (thanks to Captain Golo and his mac) recover my files with a wireless connection from my computer at the institute, and, with little delay, the show continued.
After a few months, a friend of mine told me about his intentions to make an online rst2pdf converter.
That was just the spark I needed, in less than a week, I finished this nice collaborative on-the-cloud wibbly woobly timey winey stuff. Thus making my promise a reality.
